JFAM Weekend: June 10-12

In partnership with Jewish Federation of Greater New Haven and PJ Library, Camp Laurelwood invites you to our Jewish Family Camp Weekend from June 10-12, 2022.

The cost is $600 per household all-inclusive, and financial aid is available. The cost of the weekend is generously subsidized by funding from Foundation for Jewish Camp.

What is JFAM?

JFAM is an all-inclusive family Shabbat or holiday weekend designed specifically for Jewish families with kids 9 years old and under.

A JFAM family camp weekend is a chance to relax together as a family, enjoy fun activities planned just for you, connect with your family and other families in your community, and celebrate Shabbat.

What's included?

A Family Camp weekend includes:

  • A mix of on-campus housing options, including rustic cabins and private/semi private accommodations.
  • Three Kosher and kid-friendly meals per day. Many snacking options available. See sample menu below.
  • Traditional summer camp activities, including: pool/lake, archery, arts & crafts, sports, nature, ropes, challah baking, and celebration of Shabbat.

Sample Schedule

Friday

  • Arrivals any time after 3pm
  • 6:00pm - Introductions and welcome Shabbat
  • 6:30pm - Dinner in the Mess Hall
  • 7:15pm - Song Session in the Mess Hall
  • 7:45pm - Laila Tov (Goodnight!), Laurelwood
  • 9:00pm - Optional Evening Program for parents only

Saturday

  • 8:00am - Breakfast in the Mess Hall (coffee and fruit/snacks available after 6am)
  • 9:00am - Challah baking in the Mess Hall, Activity Sign-ups
  • 9:45-10:30am - Activity Block 1
  • 10:45-11:30am - Activity Block 2
  • 11:45am - Shabbat Morning celebration
  • 12:00pm - Lunch in the Mess Hall
  • 1:00pm - Rest Hour
  • 2:00-2:45pm - Activity Block 3 (option for kids/parents to go to separate activities)
  • 3:00-3:45pm - Activity Block 4 (option for kids/parents to go to separate activities)
  • 4:00-4:45pm - All Camp Swim
  • 5:00pm - Shower Hour
  • 6:00pm - Dinner in the Mess Hall
  • 7:00pm - Evening Program for kids age 5+
  • 7:45pm - Havdalah (Saying Goodbye to Shabbat) and Laila Tov (Goodnight!), Laurelwood
  • 9:00pm - Optional Evening Program for parents only

Sunday

  • 8:00am - Breakfast in the Mess Hall (coffee and fruit/snacks available after 6am)
  • 9:00-9:45am - Activity Block 1
  • 10:00-10:45am - Activity Block 2 (option for kids/parents to go to separate activities)
  • 11:00am - Closing Circle Grab and go lunch starting at 12, check out by 1pm

Sample Menu

Camp Laurelwood operates a certified kosher kitchen. We happily accommodate food allergies and dietary restrictions of all kinds, and we offer kid and adult friendly options with alternatives for meals.

Friday:

  • Dinner: Roasted Chicken, Matzah Ball Soup

Saturday:

  • Breakfast: Bagels, Donuts
  • Lunch: Deli Lunch
  • Dinner: Tacos

Sunday:

  • Breakfast: Scrambled Eggs, Hashbrowns
  • Lunch: Mac and Cheese, Broccoli
